Test Techniques - Advanced level Virtual

The ‘Test Techniques – Advanced Level’ workshop provides delegates with practical guidance on the application of advanced test case design techniques (and measures of test coverage), and advice on the choice of which of these techniques and measures to use.  The aim is to extend the delegate’s toolset of techniques from which they can then choose most effectively.

Course overview

About the course

This one-day tutor-led workshop includes slides, exercises and practical work, and uses a hands-on approach based on group exercises and discussions. It is highly-interactive, allowing attendees to learn from the experience of the instructor and each other, and, owing to its interactive nature, each workshop is restricted to a maximum of 18 delegates. This workshop provides delegates with practical hands-on experience of applying static analysis and test case design techniques to example problems relating to both code and business processes, each of which is supported by model answers.

The course focuses on black and white box approaches as applied to both code, decision logic and business processes, but each workshop will be tailored to the preferences of the audience on the day.  All the techniques covered will conform to those defined in the new ISO/IEC/IEEE29119 Software Testing Standards and the BCS Software Component Testing Standard. Advice will also be provided on how to decide which of the techniques will be most effective for a given situation, based on both experience and the latest experimental results.

What is virtual classroom training?

Virtual instructor-led training combines the personal teaching experience of a classroom, with the ease and flexibility of a virtual environment. Virtual courses are interactive and engaging, allowing participants to communicate with both the instructor and each other in a collaborative manner.

Duration

This is an intensive two-day virtual course.

The objectives for introduction to test techniques:

  • To give attendees an awareness of the benefits of using static analysis to identify test objectives and risks
  • To give attendees experience in applying static analysis & structure-based test design techniques
  • To give attendees experience in applying black-box approaches to business process via use-cases
  • To give attendees an appreciation of how test techniques are appropriate for different systems under test and/or different levels of risk
  • To give attendees an appreciation of how these techniques are used to create test cases and measure test coverage
  • Static analysis & dynamic testing
  • Control flow analysis
  • Data flow analysis
  • System architectures and call graph analysis
  • Dynamic white-box testing
  • Condition, decision/condition, modified condition decision, multiple condition testing
  • Path testing
  • Dynamic black-box testing
  • Use-case testing
  • Choosing test techniques

This is an intensive two-day virtual course that includes the following:

  • All accompanying course material

There is no formal exam associated with this course.

The workshop is principally aimed at testers and test engineers who have already attended the Test techniques – Foundation level course who want to improve the quality and effectiveness of the tests they (or their testers) design, and who want to ensure that they are fully aware of current best industry practices.

Delegates should have sat the Test Techniques- Foundation Level or have equivalent knowledge before sitting the advanced course.
