These guiding practices help you align projects with organisational goals to ensure programme success. The guidance outlines seven principles, including ‘Lead with purpose’, which emphasises the need to set a clear direction and vision for decision-making; ‘Collaborate across boundaries’, promoting open communication across an organisation; and ‘Deal with ambiguity’, ensuring teams have the skills and tools for tackling any uncertainties that arise during the programme.
Themes
The seven themes provide a structured approach for effective programme management, guiding every aspect of planning, control, and delivery. Themes include ‘Organisation’, which defines the structure and roles required for successful delivery; ‘Design’, that guides how programme outcomes, capabilities, and benefits should be designed and documented; and ‘Justification’, for ensuring the viability of the programme is maintained throughout its lifecycle.
Processes
Designed to guide you through the end-to-end process of delivering a programme, the processes cover all stages from initiation to closure. Such as ‘Identify the programme’, for assessing if a programme is viable and aligns with organisational goals; ‘Design the outcomes’, for identifying the goals the programme seeks to achieve; and ‘Embed the outcomes’, which only happens when all projects have been completed and outcomes are fully embedded.

Yes, you must renew your certification within three years of the award date to remain current. There are multiple ways to recertify, more information regarding the options can be found on the PeopleCert website.
How long does it take to complete PRINCE2 Programme Management Foundation?
The eLearning course takes approximately 18 hours to complete, and you have online access for 12 months. The classroom and live virtual classroom courses take three days. For all study options, you have 12 months from the purchase date of the course to take your exam.
What is the pass mark for the PRINCE2 Programme Management Foundation exam?
The exam is multiple choice and closed book. There are 60 questions per paper. The pass mark is 60%, which means you need to achieve a total of 36 marks or more to pass.
