BCS Business Analysis Practice Classroom

This course prepares you for the Certificate in Business Analysis Practice examination offered by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

About the course

The ILX classroom approach to Business Analysis Practice training utilises group discussions, combined with practical training to help support business change. You will learn how to apply business analysis techniques within a defined framework and explore a range of strategic analysis and performance management techniques to help investigate,  improve and develop effective business solutions.

This course prepares you for the BCS Business Analysis Practice examination which is one of four modules required to gain the International Diploma in Business Analysis.

Duration

This is an intensive three day classroom course with the exam on the afternoon of day three.

By the end of this course you should be able to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of Business Analysis Practice principles and techniques in the following areas: 

  • The breadth of the role of a Business Analyst (BA), the value of the role to organisations and the skills required of a BA to support successful business change
  • The processes and techniques of strategy analysis
  • Investigation of an organisation’s business systems in order to uncover the problems and issues occurring within them
  • The importance of, and techniques used within, stakeholder management and the need for analysing perspectives
  • Conceptual modelling through the use of business activity models
  • Recommendations for business improvements and how they may be identified through gap analysis between desired and current business models
  • The role of a business case within the business change lifecycle, including the contents of a business case for the development and implementation of business changes.

  • Analysing and modelling business activities
  • Identifying potential solutions

  • The cost of the Business Analysis Practice examination (the exam is taken on the last day of the course)

The format for the examination is:

  • 60-minute duration
  • Multiple-choice examination
  • Closed book
  • Pass mark is 26/40 (65%)

There are no formal prerequisites for attending this course or taking the exam however you should have some practical experience of business analysis.
