About the course

It is now becoming increasingly evident that a well structured approach to the Management of Risk is essential when organisations have to make informed decisions with regards to improving performance through change initiatives. The M_o_R Foundation course is based upon the 'Management of Risk – Guidance for Practitioners' publication, and provides a best practice approach to the essential elements of risk management. The course will provide delegates with an introduction to the principles, processes and techniques used in the M_o_R approach and are covered in extended detail to enable delegates to practice the application of the guidance both during the course and after within their own organisation. 

This is a three-day course that helps prepares you for the M_o_R Foundation examination. There is some pre-course reading and activities to complete which will be sent prior to the event. During the event there will be some examination preparation evening work to complete.

Duration

This is a three-day course that helps you to prepare for the M_o_R Foundation examination.

By the end of the course you should understand the structure, basic concepts and terminology within the M_o_R Guide. Specifically, you should for any organizational perspective:

  • Know the facts, terms, concepts and relationships between the four elements of the M_o_R framework (principles, approach, processes and embedding and reviewing)

Please note: To assist your learning there is some pre-course reading and activities that must be completed prior to attending your course. In addition whilst attending your course there will also be some examination preparation evening work .

This is an intensive three-day course that includes the following:

  • All accompanying course material (hardcopy)
  • Online pre-course
  • The official M_o_R manual (digital & hardcopy)
  • The cost of the M_o_R Foundation examination (valid for 12 months from purchase date. Exam must be taken online via remote proctor)

Materials

Hardcopy ILX course material: You will be provided with a printed version of the ILX course material. This will be issued on day one of your course.

Digital and hardcopy official manual: You will be given access to both a digital and hardcopy version of the official manual. The hardcopy will be issued on day one of your course with your course material. For the digital version you will be sent an email invitation approximately two working days prior to course commencement to register on the Peoplecert portal. Once registered you will be able to access the digital version of your manual.  Please note: There is a 5-year limitation in accessing your eBook.

Exams are taken online via remote proctor. You will be sent an email invitation approximately two working days prior to course commencement to register on the Peoplecert portal. Once registered you will be able to book your online exam at a date and time of your choice. You are responsible for booking your own exam. Recertification: This certification has a renew within three years of the award date to remain current. There are multiple ways to recertify, more information regarding the options can be found here.

Exam format

Multiple-choice exam

  • 1 hour duration
  • 75 questions (including five trial questions)
  • 50% pass mark (35/70)
  • Closed-book.

The course will be of benefit to all levels of management including:

  • Corporate managers – responsiblefor corporate governance and the organisation’s overall exposure to risk.
  • Programme managers – responsible for risk relating to specific programmes.
  • Project managers – responsible for managing risk in projects.
  • Operational managers – responsible for risks that affect the on-going continuity of business services.
  • All other personnel who havean interest or responsibility for the Management of Risk within their organisation.

Pre-course

A concentrated course that requires you to complete mandatory online pre-course study, which is designed to take approximately three to four hours to complete. Full instructions with a link to the online pre-course will be issued within 48 hours of your confirmed booking.
