What is RPP?

The APM's Registered Project Professional (RPP) is a pan-sector standard that allows holders to demonstrate the necessary competencies and leadership skills required to manage and deliver a complex project using appropriate tools, processes and techniques.

What is the benefit of becoming RPP?

For the individual

  • Public recognition and independent verification of project capabilities
  • Improves career prospects
  • Publicly listed on the APM Register of Project Professionals
  • RPP holders have a recognised route to becoming a Chartered Project Professional (ChPP)

For the organisation

For employers, this visible investment in staff offers the benefit of raising the profile of project management as a driver for competitive advantage and improved project delivery.

Who should apply?

RPP is for anyone who has either:

  • a minimum of 7 years' experience of working in project, programme or portfolio management or in a key control function or;
  • achieved the APM Project Professional Qualification (PPQ) or APM Practitioner Qualification (PQ). Holders of these qualifications will undertake a reduced written submission.

  • Provides evidence of high standards of practice and ethical standards
  • Provides a framework for career development

Are you eligible for ChPP?

ChPP is for anyone that meets the following criteria. You need to be 'professionally active'. This means:
a) having a proven track record delivering projects, programmes, portfolios or a key control or enabling function; and
b) having up-to-date knowledge of current practices and methods; and
c) being actively involved in the project management profession.
If the majority of evidence provided in your application is more than five years old, you can still apply, you will just need to explain how you continue to meet points b) and c) above.
