Are you new to ITIL and need the basics?
ITIL V3 Foundation: If you are new to ITIL and wish to gain knowledge of the key concepts, terminology and processes of the ITIL framework and how it may be used to enhance the quality of IT service management within an organisation you should complete ITIL V3 Foundation.
It is the first qualification in the ITIL qualification scheme and is a pre-requisite for higher level ITIL courses. ILX Group has ITIL V3 Foundation distance e-learning and classroom courses available.
Working for an organisation that uses ITIL V2?
When getting your ITIL certification, it's recommended that you study the latest version of ITIL - V3, so that you may benefit from the changes made to the methodology. ITIL V3 promises the following benefits:
- increased user and customer satisfaction with IT services
- improved service availability, directly leading to increased business profits and revenue
- financial savings from reduced rework, lost time, improved resource management and usage
- improved time to market for new products and services
- improved decision making and optimised risk
With this in mind anyone who is new to ITIL - contractors, consultants and those who are required to show they have the most up to date qualifications, should undertake the ITIL V3 courses.
If your organisation is operating under ITIL V2 guidelines, a more structured approach to the transition will be required and during this time you may be advised to continue with the ITIL V2 courses. ITIL V2-V3 bridging courses are available for those wanting to update their qualification to the latest version.
Need to update your ITIL qualification to the latest version?
The following ITIL bridge courses are available to take your existing ITIL qualification to the latest version:
ITIL Foundation - both a distance e-learning course and a 1.5 day intsructor led course are available.
ITIL Managers - 5-day instructor course designed for individuals who already hold the Manager’s Certificate in IT Service Management at an earlier ITIL version and who wish to obtain the ITIL Expert in IT Service Management.

Are you required to manage the IT Infrastucture at your work?
- The ITIL V3 Service Manager Package is a blended learning programme which comprises 10-12 hours of the ITIL V3 Foundation CBT including examination together with the three core intermediate 3 day modules of Service Design, Service Transition and Service Operation. Candidates will take four examinations and will gain 11 credits towards the ITIL Expert qualification.
- The ITIL V3 Strategy and Improvement Package is a blended learning programme which comprises of 10-12 hours of ITIL V3 Foundation CBT including examination together with the two peripheral intermediate modules of Service Strategy & Continual Service Improvement. Candidates will take three examinations and will gain 8 credits towards the ITIL Expert qualification.
Existing holders of the ITIL V3 Foundation certificate can purchase the above packages without the Foundation examination.
Are you specialising in one core Lifecycle subject?
The ITIL Lifecycle Specialist Gold Package provides an accelerated route to qualifying in one of the ITIL V3 Lifecycle disciplines. This blended programme combines ITIL version 3 e-learning including examination with your chosen classroom workshop. Choose from one of the following workshops and gain 5 credits towards the ITIL Expert qualification:
- Service Strategy
- Service Design
- Service Transition
- Service Operation
- Continual Service Improvement
Does your role involve you in a broad range of disciplines without managing all of them?
The ITIL Capability Specialist Gold Package provides an accelerated route to qualifying in one of the ITIL V3 Capability disciplines. This blended programme combines ITIL version 3 e-learning including examination with your chosen classroom workshop. Choose from one of the following workshops and gain 5 credits towards the ITIL Expert qualification:
- Operational Support & Analysis
- Planning, Protection & Optimisation
- Release, Control & Validation
- Service Offerings & Agreements
Have you already gained 17 credits or more from a combination of either ITIL Version 1, Version 2 and/or ITIL Version 3 qualification?
- The ITIL V3 Managing Across The Lifecycle Package consolidates all of your learning so far providing a comprehensive understanding of the entire ITIL V3 Library. This blended package comprises our ITIL Version 3 e-learning product together with the five day Managing Across the Lifecycle course.
