About the course

The ILX Requirements Engineering classroom course is designed for anybody wanting to elicit, analyse, validate, document and manage requirements. You will:

  • Learn how to take a disciplined and rigorous approach to defining your business requirements
  • Develop a set of practices and processes to identify requirements in order to develop business and IT solutions
  • Learn how to draw out information and requirements from key business stakeholders

This course prepares you for the BCS Requirements Engineering examination which is one of the four modules required to gain the International Diploma in Business Analysis.

Duration

This is an intensive three-day course that prepares you for the BCS Requirements Engineering examination. The training is conducted via a virtual training environment. You need to ensure that you can satisfy the technical requirements that can be found on our website here.

  • The hierarchy of requirements
  • Roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders in the Requirements Engineering framework

  • Requirements modelling
  • Requirements documentation

  • Stakeholders in the requirements process
  • Requirements elicitation
  • Hierarchy of requirements

This is an intensive three-day virtual course, which includes the following:

  • All accompanying course material (digital)
  • Requirements Engineering examination (must be taken online via remote proctor within 12 months of purchase)
  • Business Analysis handbook (hard copy)

Materials

Digital ILX course materials: These will be accessible via the ILX portal. Full instructions with a link to the portal will be issued at point of purchase. The course materials will be provided in a PDF format and available for download. 

Hard copy official manual: The hard copy official manual will be shipped to your chosen address approximately two weeks prior to course commencement.

HOW YOU TAKE YOUR EXAM

The exam is taken online via remote proctor. Two weeks prior to course commencement ILX will arrange for an exam voucher to be issued. You then have a choice you can either:

  • Book a suitable time after your virtual classroom event has finished to undertake your exam

OR

  • We currently allocate exam time within the virtual classroom event. So that you can book directly, we will advise you of recommended exam timings as part of the candidate guidance — this is issued three weeks prior to course commencement

Note: You are responsible for booking your own exam.

Exam format

  • Closed book
  • Multiple choice
  • 40 questions
  • 4 options per question
  • 62.5% to pass (25/40)
  • 60 minutes duration

There are no formal prerequisites for attending this course or taking the exam however you should have some practical experience of business analysis.
