About the course

This two-day virtual course helps prepare you for the APM Project Risk Management level 1 examination which is designed to determine an individual’s knowledge and understanding of project risk management at the foundation level.

  • 13.5 hours of ILX learning resources (Directed Development)


Please be advised that the APM recommends approximately 34 hours preparation time for the  APM Risk 1 examination. You must:

  • Attend a two-day virtual classroom course (Guided Learning)
  • Complete 13.5 hours of additional learning resources to help support exam preparation (Directed Development)

All learning must be completed prior to taking the exam.

The training is conducted via a virtual training environment. You need to ensure that you can satisfy the technical requirements that can be found on our website here.

Exams are taken online via remote proctor. Two working days prior to course commencement ILX will arrange for an exam voucher to be issued. Exam format

  • One hour
  • Contains 60 compulsory multiple-choice questions
  • Each correct answer scores one mark
  • No deductions are made for incorrect marks
  • Pass mark: 60%

There are no formal pre-requisites for this course however the examination assumes that those taking the examination have the level of project risk management knowledge specified in the APM Project Management Qualification syllabus. Those taking the exam are also expected to have read or be familiar with the Project Risk Analysis and Management (PRAM) Guide 2nd Edition.
