About the course

Project Planning & Control supports the publication of the APM's guide, ‘Planning, Scheduling, Monitoring and Control – The Practical Project Management of Time, Cost and Risk.’ It provides guidance and best practice for project planning and control and is applicable across all industries and sectors.

A successful Practitioner candidate will have demonstrated that they have achieved sufficient understanding of the theory and application of the tools and techniques to allow them to work successfully in a Project Support team environment.

Duration

This is a five day classroom course that includes the PPC Foundation and Practitioner exam on the last day.

This is an intensive five-day course that includes the following:

  • All accompanying course material
  • The Planning, Scheduling, Monitoring and Control – The Practical Project Management of Time, Cost and Risk manual
  • The cost of the PPC Foundation and Practitioner examination (taken within the duration of the course)

Foundation exam:

  • Multiple Choice
  • 50 questions per paper
  • 25 marks required to pass (out of 50 available) – 50%
  • 40 minutes duration
  • Closed-book

Practitioner exam:

  • Complex multiple choice
  • 8 question paper with 10 marks available per question
  • 40 marks required to pass (out of 80 available) – 50%
  • 3-hour duration
  • Open-book (Project Planning & Control guide only)

The are no formal pre-requisites. It is recommended that a Practitioner candidate has a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a planning and monitoring role. In addition, you must have passed the PPC Foundation exam prior to undertaking the Practitioner examination.

Pre-course

There is mandatory pre-course work that must be under taken prior to attending this course. In addition, whilst attending the course there will also be some exam preparation evening work.
