The APM announced that a new version of the APM Project Management Qualification will be launched this year with exams released on the 3rd September 2024. The new syllabus has been aligned to the APM Competence Framework and will include the following new topics:
The qualification has a new exam format. Command verbs are changing, their purpose now is only to tell candidates how to answer a question. The new assessment will focus on a candidate’s project management knowledge through four new question types:
The exam will be 2.5 hours long with an optional 30-minute break. There are 40 questions worth a total of 90 marks.
Important dates
Candidates who wish to sit the current APM Project Management Qualification to which this course is aligned too have until 30th August to complete their exam but for those who wish to secure a resit opportunity as well, it is encouraged to sit the exam by 5th July 2024. All resit exams for the current version of the Management Qualification must be completed by 4th October 2024.
The APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) is an internationally-recognised knowledge-based qualification that enables you to satisfy the needs of modern-day projects, by fully participating in undertakings ranging from individual assignments to large capital projects. It is the benchmark qualification for anyone embarking on a project management career, or looking to add project management to their portfolio of skills.

Exams are taken online via remote proctor. Two working days prior to course commencement ILX will arrange for an exam voucher to be issued. You will then be able to book a suitable time after your classroom event has finished to undertake your exam. This course is designed for individuals from both the public and private sectors, including those working in the management of projects ranging from individual assignments through to those working on large capital or change projects. Individuals will typically have some pre existing project management knowledge as this is not an entry level qualification.

Candidates attending the professional programme would benefit from having a minimum of two years relevant practical experience of project management as this is not an entry level qualification.
By the time you attend this course you must have completed all the mandatory online pre-course. The online pre-course is designed to take approximately ten hours to complete. In addition, whilst attending your course there will also be examination preparation evening work.
