FAQs

Learn how to recognise stress, manage it in the short-term, identify long-term strategies, and ultimately develop greater resilience.

What is ‘red lining’?

In the context of stress management, ‘red lining’ refers to pushing yourself beyond your mental, physical, or emotional limits, often to the point of burnout or significant harm. It originates from the term used in motor vehicles, where the ‘red line’ on a tachometer indicates the maximum safe operating speed of the engine. Exceeding this threshold can cause serious damage, much like the effect of overloading yourself without adequate rest or support.

Why is resilience and stress management important in the workplace?

Resilience and stress management help maintain productivity, reduce burnout, and improve decision-making. They support a healthy work environment and enable individuals to navigate challenges effectively.

How will knowing stress management techniques improve my career prospects?

Stress management skills demonstrate emotional intelligence and the ability to handle pressure. These qualities are highly valued in leadership positions, which often come with an increased level of responsibility, as you tackle bigger challenges and handle greater amounts of stress.
