Course overview

Build your Agile business analysis knowledge from core concepts through to advanced application with this four-day, APMG International-accredited course. You’ll explore how to investigate needs, shape requirements, navigate complex change and evaluate value, while preparing for both AgileBA v3 qualifications.

Build knowledge and practical AgileBA capability

Progress through Foundation and Practitioner learning in a single four-day course. You’ll establish how Agile business analysis works before developing the analytical judgement to apply its concepts to more demanding situations, giving you a structured route from essential knowledge to advanced AgileBA practice.

Learning objectives
  • Connect user needs with organisational goals
  • Explore problems from multiple perspectives
  • Develop requirements through iterative increments
  • Support collaborative quality and testability
  • Align change with strategy and value
  • Analyse systemic complexity and assumptions
  • Model interconnected dimensions of change
  • Validate outcomes using evidence and metrics
  • Use AI critically and responsibly

What you'll learn

Follow Agile Business Analysis from its underlying principles through to its application in complex change. You’ll consider how needs become requirements, how collaboration strengthens quality and how evidence informs improvement, before tackling strategic alignment, systems thinking, advanced modelling, validation and the appropriate use of AI.

AgileBA principles and discovery

Establish the foundations of Agile Business Analysis and its contribution to business agility. You’ll examine the Framework for Business Agility, Value Horizons and AgileBA competencies alongside techniques for discovering user needs and relating them to organisational purpose. You’ll also consider facilitation, stakeholder perspectives, adaptive strategy and how objectives can provide direction for change.

Requirements, quality and feedback

Explore how analysis moves from a broad understanding of a problem towards requirements that can be delivered and tested iteratively. Topics include Themes, Epics and User Stories, prioritisation, modelling, collaborative testing and behaviour-driven development. You’ll consider how feedback, evidence and reflective learning can help teams refine their understanding and improve value as work progresses.

Strategy, complexity and change

Move into Practitioner-level analysis by examining change within its wider organisational system. Learn how strategy connects with organisational value flow, how different perspectives expose complexity and how cognitive bias can affect analysis. You’ll also explore ways to decompose and model sophisticated change across organisational, process and technical dimensions while retaining sight of their relationships.

Validation, value and AI

Develop a more evidence-led approach to evaluating change. You’ll explore collaborative quality engineering, advanced validation, structured experimentation and operational metrics to determine whether intended value is being realised. You’ll also examine where AI can assist with strategy, sense-making, modelling and validation, alongside the critical judgement required to assess its outputs and use it responsibly.

FAQs

Find answers to common questions about Agile business analysis, including how requirements are managed, the difference between Foundation and Practitioner, and how AgileBA approaches complexity and organisational change.

What is Agile business analysis?

Agile business analysis applies business analysis competencies in ways that support business agility and iterative delivery. It focuses on understanding needs, exploring problems, developing requirements progressively, collaborating across roles and using feedback and evidence to help organisations pursue value as circumstances and knowledge change.

What is the difference between AgileBA Foundation and Practitioner?

Foundation assesses your knowledge and understanding of AgileBA concepts and core competencies. Practitioner builds on that base and assesses your ability to understand, apply and analyse AgileBA approaches in more complex situations, including strategy alignment, systemic complexity, change modelling, empirical validation and responsible AI use.

How does AgileBA help with complex organisational change?

At Practitioner level, AgileBA addresses complexity by encouraging analysts to consider multiple perspectives, question assumptions and recognise cognitive bias. It also covers decomposing and modelling change across organisational, process and technical dimensions, helping analysts examine individual elements without losing sight of how they influence the wider system.

How are requirements managed in Agile Business Analysis (AgileBA)?

Requirements are progressively developed as understanding increases rather than being fully defined at the outset. AgileBA covers techniques including Themes, Epics and User Stories, prioritisation and modelling, helping teams break broad needs into manageable increments while maintaining links between individual requirements and the wider purpose of the change.
