There are no formal prerequisites for attending the course itself, but you must meet PMI's eligibility requirements before you can apply to sit the PMP certification exam. These combine your level of education with your project management experience.
To be eligible, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Secondary school qualification (such as GCSE/A Level equivalent or high school diploma) plus at least 60 months (5 years) of non-overlapping experience leading projects within the last 10 years.
- Associate degree, higher certificate or equivalent qualification plus at least 48 months (4 years) of project leadership experience within the last 10 years.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) plus at least 36 months (3 years) of project leadership experience within the last 10 years.
- A bachelor's or postgraduate degree from a PMI Global Accreditation Center (GAC) accredited programme plus at least 24 months (2 years) of project leadership experience within the last 10 years.
You'll also need 35 hours of formal project management education, which this course provides upon successful completion. If you already hold an active CAPM® certification, PMI waives this 35-hour training requirement.
