A key aspect of personnel development was to help managers across the world, in different functions, to understand better how their decisions and actions influence the company's business performance. Hilton needed a low-cost, but effective way to provide training and consistent messages to those managers worldwide.
Although the development of the Hilton University was advanced and Hilton had seen several financial learning suppliers, when the company came across ILX Group, it found the ideal solution.
Hilton chose 25 courses from the ILX Group 'Finance for Managers' library of e-learning courses as the core of its financial learning module. The course content shows how business decisions affect the financial performance of an organisation (however small the decision) and how overall company profit and share price is affected. The courses were customised with case studies, a text glossary and language relevant to Hilton. They form part of the Hilton University which offers a mix of class-room and e-learning based training and education.
ILX Group e-learning courses have proven to be some of the most effective and popular of all courses in the Hilton University. Five of the top ten most popular online courses are finance related with ILX Group' 'Introduction to Financial Statements' as the number one course.
The ILX Group courses won a 70 percent approval rating from users and almost everyone who used them has recommended them to other people in the company.
The courses, which Hilton regards as some of the best available, have helped managers to understand the fundamentals of finance, irrespective of their job function. Users of the ILX Group courses have shown an average 25 percent improvement in pre-assessment and even higher post assessment scores averaging around 78 percent. Hilton has also found that operational effectiveness and customer service levels have improved because of the increased knowledge and value of its staff that courses such as those provided by ILX Group have achieved.
Another important benefit of the ILX Group courses has been the ability to deliver learning and key business messages in a consistent way to thousands of employees worldwide.
