Course overview

This in-depth 5-day training course enables IT professionals to install, set up and administer Oracle WebLogic Server. It supports preparation for Oracle certification, though it does not itself award a qualification.

Become a Confident WebLogic Administrator

Over five interactive days, this instructor-led course helps you build strong practical foundations in Oracle WebLogic Server 14c. You'll develop confident experience in deploying enterprise applications, handling configuration tasks, and setting up secure, scalable environments.

Learning objectives
  • Perform WebLogic Server installation
  • Set up domains and server instances
  • Manage JEE application deployment
  • Use WebLogic tools and WLST scripts
  • Configure database connectivity and messaging
  • Enable secure access and SSL
  • Monitor system health and resources
  • Plan and execute backup strategies

What you’ll learn

Gain essential knowledge and applied skills in WebLogic system administration. The course covers the full server lifecycle, from initial setup to high-availability configurations and secure deployments. Learn how to handle real-time issues with confidence.

Server setup and domain planning

You will begin with the essentials of installing Oracle WebLogic Server, covering different setup modes and the prerequisites for a successful configuration. You’ll explore the structure of WebLogic domains, including administration and managed servers, and develop skills in creating and extending domains using both graphical and script-based tools.

Domain planning and architecture will also be addressed, enabling you to configure robust environments tailored to organisational needs.

WLST scripting and automation

Learn how to use WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST) to automate routine administration tasks. This part of the course covers key scripting concepts including domain navigation, configuration changes, and server management.

You’ll write and run scripts to start and stop services, manage deployments, and retrieve domain information. All of this helps to enhance your ability to maintain and scale WebLogic infrastructure with greater efficiency.

JDBC and messaging resources

Gain insight into configuring WebLogic for database connectivity and messaging. You’ll work with JDBC to set up data sources and connection pools and monitor their performance. Additionally, you’ll explore Java Message Service (JMS), including topics, queues, and persistent messaging. These skills ensure reliable integration between WebLogic and the systems it supports.

Resilience and high availability

This part of the course explores how to maintain application availability through clustering, failover and replication techniques. You’ll learn to configure server clusters, replicate session data, and distribute traffic using Oracle HTTP Server. Topics also include the use of dynamic clusters and deployment strategies across multiple nodes to ensure service continuity in demanding environments.
