Whereas the APM PMQ is more focused on the management of a project lifecycle and the elements, including risk and change management, that come together to ensure the successful implementation of a project.

This learning pathway will help prepare you for the following exams:
The format of the PRINCE2 Foundation exam is as follows:
- 60 minute exam duration
- 60 questions
- Closed book
- 33/60 required to pass = 55% pass mark
The format of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam is as follows:
- 150 minute exam duration
- 68 questions
- Open book (official PRINCE2 manual only)
- 38/68 required to pass = 55% pass mark
The format of the APM PMQ exam is as follows:
- Three-hour duration
- Answer 10 from 16 questions
- 55% required to pass

Recommended experience/qualifications
There are no formal pre-requisites for the PRINCE2 Foundation examination however you must have passed Foundation prior to undertaking the Practitioner examination.
It is strongly recommended that those wishing to undertake APM PMQ would benefit from having a minimum of two years relevant practical experience of project management.

The PMQ e-learning provides a detailed explanation of all the required syllabus topics for the PMQ examination. It will take approximately 27-30 hours to complete, and once completed you can attempt the sample examination questions and undertake private study with the APM Body of Knowledge. We recommend that you set some time aside over a period of four to six weeks to complete the work. Please be advised the APM recommends between 70-80 hours preparation for the PMQ examination.
