The benefits of the following courses: MSP, P3O, Change Management & MoP

Chances are you have heard of many of our training courses at ILX, but you may not fully know what they’re about, or what their benefits are. We’re here to give you a rundown of what they entail and the skills you can gain.

MSP® training programmes

First up, our Managing Successful Programmes course, or MSP for short. There are three levels of training available: Foundation, Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner.

Working from the ground up, MSP training introduces programme management, the difference between programme and projects, and different types of programme. It goes on to cover process information such as programme lifecycles, programme organisation, planning and control, risk management, quality assurance and much more.

Our MSP training will arm delegates with the knowledge and understanding of the MSP method at a strategic level, allowing them to contribute and make improvements at their organisation. It provides the framework to effectively manage transformational change, and ensure processes are applied appropriately to suit the organisation’s circumstances.

Managing Successful Programmes training is suited to a whole host of roles, including, but not limited to newly appointed Programme Managers, programme office staff and experienced Project Managers.

The advanced MSP training can benefit Programme Directors, Business Change Managers, Change Auditors, Programme office staff or managers, as it couples practical experience with the theory of MSP, to fully encompass the delegate’s understanding of real-world application.

P3O® training programmes

Next up, P3O training courses. The P3O model is a structure covering Portfolio, Programme and Project Office guidance. It is aligned to our other Best Practice guidances - PRINCE2, MSP and M_o_R. It brings together in one place a set of principles, processes and techniques to facilitate effective portfolio management, programme management and project management.

The P3O guidance provides a decision enabling and delivery support structure for all change. The training is designed to enable delegates to understand the structure and reasons for establishing a P3O model. It covers roles, tools and techniques along with the processes that help ensure business change happens in line with corporate strategic objectives.

During the course, delegates will gain knowledge of the internationally recognised Best Practice terminology, structure, basic concepts and the core principles of P3O. Suited to organisations large and small alike, the Foundation and Practitioner courses are ideal for SROs/programme directors and managers, Portfolio/programme/project office managers and support staff.

APMG-International Change Management

Our International Change Management training is available as a Foundation course and a Practitioner course. The courses look at the effects and management of change, covering both theory and application.

Benefits and beneficiaries

By the end of training delegates will understand impacts of change for individuals, the organisation and its stakeholders. They will develop insights into drivers of change, models and processes of change, and best practices for preparing for change. Beyond this, the courses cover how to establish and apply appropriate frameworks, strategising for organisational change, and building and supporting an effective change team.

Change Management training can help individuals understand the why and how of adopting change. By bettering their understanding, they become better equipped to handle change within the organisation. For the organisation this helps reduce the risk of failure or delay during change implementation.

APMG International Change Management is ideal for change leaders and managers and change support teams. But it’s also perfectly suited for change implementers such as programme and project managers, as the training compliments our PRINCE2 and MSP courses.

MoP® training programmes

Finally, our Management of Portfolios (MoP) training, which is also available as a Foundation course, sets the foundations of MoP knowledge, while the Practitioner course builds practical understanding.

MoP guidance covers how to apply principles, practices and techniques which help optimise an organisation investment in change alongside business as usual work. The qualification covers how to analyse portfolio data, documentation and roles in relation to scenario situations, and using appropriate practices and techniques.

Benefits and beneficiaries

Upon completion of the course, delegates will be able to define the business case in order to get senior management approval for portfolio management. They will also gain the ability to analyse solutions, and plan the implementation of portfolio management. Becoming qualified will allow individuals and organisations to answer whether an investment is right for them, i.e. does it contribute to strategic objectives? And if so, to manage its implementation effectively, considering risk and ensuring efficient delivery.

The certification is aimed at those in portfolio management roles, and those involved in the selection and delivery of business change initiatives. This includes, but isn’t limited to SROs, Directors of Change, Business Case Writers and Project/Programme managers.
