What you'll learn

Learn the core concepts from the M_o_R 4 manual, equipping you with the skills to develop effective risk management approaches that cater for the issues and challenges of today’s complex business environment. Earning this globally recognised certification helps you make an impact within your organisation and advances your career.

Principles

The principles support you to develop a risk management approach that’s aligned to your business’s specific needs and objectives. There are eight in the M_o_R 4 guidance, including ‘fits the context’, for tailoring risk management processes in line with your organisation's unique environment; ‘provides clear guidance’, for establishing well-defined policies, roles, and responsibilities, and ensuring there’s clear understanding about how risk is managed across the business; and ‘creates a supportive culture’, for building a risk-aware culture that encourages open discussion, enabling proactive management and fostering accountability.

Ultimately, these principles drive measurable value, protect resources, enhance resilience, and support sustainable growth.

Process-lifecycle

Learn about the processes in M_o_R 4 which provide a structured sequence of activities with defined inputs and outputs to achieve specific objectives. There are eight as well, including ‘prioritise risks’, which helps you assess and rank risks based on their potential impact and likelihood, ensuring focus on the most critical areas; ‘plan responses’, to help you establish strategies for mitigation, transfer, acceptance, or enhancement of identified risks; and ‘agree contingency’, for creating fallback plans for high-priority risks, ensuring the organisation is prepared to respond if issues arise.

How people and culture influence effective risk management

In the M_o_R 4 guidance, people and culture play a pivotal role in ensuring that a risk management strategy and approach is successfully implemented and continually improved. This course will teach you about the importance of fostering a supportive culture, promoting open communications, and encouraging individuals to identify, discuss, and address risks proactively.

Engaged employees who understand their roles are more likely to take ownership of risk-related responsibilities, while effective leadership is also crucial in ensuring risk awareness is embedded within an organisations culture. A positive approach sets the tone for good risk management behaviours across the business.
