What you'll learn

Strategy foundations

Discover how to create a test automation strategy that supports organisational objectives rather than individual projects alone. You'll examine the factors that influence successful adoption, identify where automation delivers the greatest benefit and understand how strategic planning helps establish consistent approaches across teams. The module also explores governance, stakeholder engagement and the planning activities needed before introducing automation at scale.

Delivery integration

Learn how automation supports different software delivery approaches, including Agile, DevOps and more traditional lifecycle models. You'll explore how automation fits across test levels, how deployment strategies differ between organisations and how careful planning helps reduce implementation challenges. The course also considers the organisational dependencies that influence successful automation and how teams can introduce change while maintaining quality and delivery confidence.

Investment decisions

Examine the commercial and operational factors involved in developing sustainable automation capabilities. You'll assess implementation costs, resource requirements, infrastructure considerations and potential risks, helping you make balanced decisions when planning automation initiatives. The course also explores the responsibilities of different stakeholders and the practical considerations that contribute to long-term success rather than short-term automation gains.

Performance improvement

Understand how organisations evaluate the effectiveness of their automation strategy through meaningful measurement and reporting. You'll learn how to use metrics to assess progress, demonstrate business value and identify opportunities for improvement.
