About the course

This qualification is a knowledge-based qualification that enables you to understand the breadth of skills required to successfully manage a project undertaking. It recognises the prior attainment of the PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification. There are 73 assessment criteria from the APM Body of Knowledge examined in the full PMQ syllabus. As 26 of these are covered by PRINCE2 Practitioner, you will only be examined on the remaining 47 assessment criteria. This learning is aligned to the APM Body of Knowledge 7th Edition.

  • PMQ accredited e-learning (Directed Development)
  • Attendance at a three-day workshop (Guided Learning)
  • Over 40 hours of additional learning resources to help support exam preparation (Directed Development)

Duration

Please be advised that the APM recommends approximately 75 hours preparation time for the PMQ examination.

  • The online learning is expected to take approximately 32 hours.
  • You must attend a three-day workshop.
  • Over 40 hours of additional learning resources to help support exam preparation. You must complete a minimum of eight hours, but we recommend you complete them all.

Important Information:

By the time you attend the workshop element of the course you must have completed the e-learning in full. You must complete all learning prior to undertaking the exam.

Exams are taken online via remote proctor. Two working days prior to course commencement ILX will arrange for an exam voucher to be issued. Note: You are responsible for booking your own exam(s). 

Exam format

This is a two-hour examination. Using essay style questions you will have to:

  • Answer six questions from 10
  • Achieve an average score of 55% to pass

The course is only available for individuals who have already gained the PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification. PMQ is designed for individuals from both the public and private sectors, including those working in the management of projects ranging from individual assignments through to those working on large capital or change projects. Individuals will typically have some pre existing project management knowledge as this is not an entry level qualification.
