APMG-International AgilePM® Practitioner classroom

The APMG-International AgilePM Practitioner course aims to address the needs of those working in a project-focused environment who want to be agile.

About the course

Based on the proven fundamentals within DSDM  - the only agile approach to focus on delivery of projects in a fully agile way - the certification lives up to its name by providing users of the method with the core principles needed to facilitate a successful project, whilst allowing a degree of scope and agility that not many other methodologies provide.

The workshop is a four-day Practitioner course which provides the opportunity for participants to take the Practitioner examination on the final day.


The Practitioner classroom course is a four-day workshop.


You must hold one of the following qualifications in order to be eligible to take the Practitioner examination:

  • AgilePM Foundation Certificate, or
  • DSDM Atern Foundation Certificate, or
  • DSDM Advanced Practitioner Certificate

Learning objectives

By the end of the Practitioner element of the course you should be able to:

  • Apply the underpinning philosophy and principles of DSDM in a project situation
  • Appropriately configure the lifecycle of an Agile project to a given scenario
  • Produce and evaluate the content of Agile products produced during an Agile project in a given scenario
  • Apply the following Agile techniques in a project situation:
    • Facilitated Workshops
    • MoSCoW prioritisation
    • Iterative Development
    • Modelling
    • Timeboxing
  • Identify the Agile techniques to be used for a given situation within a scenario
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities within an Agile project and correctly determine the appropriate personnel to fulfil these roles within a given scenario
  • Understand the mechanisms for control of an Agile Project which are specific to an Agile project
  • Understand in outline how to test, estimate and measure progress in an Agile project
  • Describe the Agile approach to managing requirements and identify action to rectify problems with requirements within an Agile project from a given scenario

This is an intensive four-day instructor-led classroom course, providing all you need to pass the AgilePM Practitioner exam first time:

  • The official handbook
  • The cost of the AgilePM Practitioner exam (taken on the last day of the course).

Practitioner exam format

For the 2014 exams aligned to Handbook v2.0

  • Objective testing
  • 4 questions per paper, 20 marks available per question
  • 40 marks required to pass (out of 80 available) - 50%
  • 2.5 hours duration
  • Open book (restricted to the official manual only) examination.

How you take your exam

You will take the Practitioner exam in the classroom on the final day of the workshop.

Are there any pre-requisites for the AgilePM® exams?

There are no pre-requisites for the Foundation exam; however, candidates must achieve a pass at Foundation level before completing the Practitioner exam. The DSDM Atern Foundation and Advanced Practitioner certificates are also acceptable pre-requisites for the practitioner exam.

What is the structure of the exam

The Practitioner exam is in the 'Objective Testing' format
