Management Accountant

Job title: Management Accountant

Reports to: Finance Director

Job purpose

To provide accurate management accounts in the timescales set. To assist in the compilation of the monthly management information for the Senior Management Team. To ensure the completeness and accuracy of key accounts so as to meet the relevant audit and legal standards.

Duties and responsibilities

To carry out the following:

  • Preparation of a weekly forecast 'dashboard' by the pm of the first working day of the following week
  • To complete and monitor the daily cash actuals/forecast for review with FD
  • To ensure the monthly management accounts are ready for review in draft format by working day four of the following month
  • To reconcile all balance sheets within ten working days of the prior month end for review with the FD on a quarterly basis
  • To reconcile the bank account on a daily basis ensuring any reconciling items are resolved within five working days, or highlighted to the FD
  • To complete the VAT returns to meet all legal requirements ensuring that all documents within the period are accounted for
  • To prepare the audit file for the external auditors at both the half year and year end in line with the audit requirements as defined by the FD
  • To complete monthly KPI data for the Senior Management Pack
  • To assist with the consolidation of the Group Accounts
  • To reconcile Intercompany balances on a monthly basis
  • To carry out other ad hoc tasks as requested

Key Attributes and Qualities

The candidate will have the following qualifications/attributes:

Essential Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) at least at final stage
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Customer focussed both internal and external

Desirable Attributes

  • A 'can do' attitude

Other Requirements:

At month end times, there may be a requirement to work longer hours to accommodate the month end process within the timescales set.

At the half year (Dec) and year end (Jul) there may be a requirement to work longer hours to accommodate the timescales set.
