Introducing Lean Six Sigma for Services

Lean Six Sigma is a methodology for solving problems and improving processes.  Its foundation is provided by Six Sigma, a set of tools and techniques aimed at creating consistent quality. This is combined with Lean  thinking ,a methodology focused on eliminating waste. Lean Six Sigma is about ensuring that projects, services and products are reliably completed at a high quality, while  optimising the use of available resources. Find out if our Lean Six Sigma for Services training is right for you.

Key Learning Points

Lean Six Sigma accomplishes its goals through the DMAIC process (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control). Once you’ve completed the Lean Six Sigma training, this process will help you to:

  • Lead Lean Six Sigma Improvement Projects – Using the DMAIC process, you will be able to carry out projects that expose where processes are failing. You can also educate colleagues on how to apply Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Identify Improvement Opportunities – In the Define stage, you will be able to select the right projects and learn from the customer what’s required. You can then highlight problems and show your ability to bring about continuous improvement.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis – As part of the Analyse stage, you will be able to use a variety of tools to identify the fundamental problems with any given process.
  • Drive Change – You will become a change agent and a leader in your organisation, bringing about cultural transformation. The Control stage of the process will prevent processes falling back on previous bad practices.
  • Apply Problem Solving techniques – The DMAIC method also allows you to create innovative solutions and implementation plans. Your skills will go beyond identifying problems because you’ll be able to create lasting, positive change for your organisation.
  • Use Software Applications – Packages such as MINITAB will allow you to perform visual and statistical data analysis. They also add a great bonus to your CV, along with the Lean Six Sigma qualification.
  • Apply Advanced Project Management Techniques – You will expand your project and risk management skillset. This includes using probabilistic approaches (assessing risks with variability and uncertainty in mind). This learning point applies to the green belt tier.

A Tailored Framework

The belt tier system was part of the original Six Sigma. At ILX, we use an innovative Lean Six Sigma framework.
