The Problem:
This company had already decided to use PRINCE2 and had an ongoing training requirement, where students could apply to be trained as they required and had a choice between classroom and the ILX Group plc multimedia training.
The Solution:
An Intranet licence was purchased allowing access at any time, either at their desk or at a designated training area. Students were set a target of a 65% pass rate in the simulated exam, once they achieved this they were put forward for the PRINCE2 Foundation exam.
The built in admin module allowed the training department to track student usage and provide additional support for students with low ongoing marks.
The Problem:
They want to train around 5 people in PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner level. Whilst cost is a consideration, most of the students are consultants, so time is important.
The Solution:
Each consultant had access to the multimedia training via CD-ROM, and set themselves a target of 80% pass rate in the simulated PRINCE2 exam that came with the course. A date was set for the Foundation Exams, and these were run in the company meeting room.
Everyone passed. The Consultants then started to put into practice what they had learned, whilst a date was set for practitioner training. Pre-course material was provided for PRINCE2 Practitioner level, and a 2-day on-site workshop was planned. The consultants attended the practitioner training, and six weeks after taking the exam they all passed.
The Problem:
They wanted to train over 100 people to Foundation level, and of those, another 50 to Practitioner level. Cost was an issue, and as a number of students were not qualified Project Managers, there was some worry about the pressure of the exams and confidence levels of the students. The company already had its own Project guidelines.
The Solution:
The company purchased a network licence for the PRINCE2 Foundation course, giving all students online access and allowed them study time. A target was set for a pass rate of 65% in the simulated exam for Foundation level students, and 80% for Practitioner level.
On the day of each of the exams, an exam workshop was held, where in the morning a trainer talked through PRINCE2 to ensure everyone had a clear understanding, and the exam was taken in the afternoon. There was a 100% pass rate. The Practitioner workshops were run as 3 day workshops plus 1 day exam, giving a little extra time to review Practitioner level. This resulted in a pass rate of 88% plus, well above average. For further information, contact ILX on
