ILX Group plc launches ITIL® and MSP® (Managing Successful Programmes) Snakes & Ladders App for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch

ILX Group has launched two further Apps to help individuals and organisations enhance their project management skills. ILX ITIL® Foundation and ILX MSP® Foundation Snakes & Ladders App for the iPhone and iPod Touch have been developed to help reinforce core elements of courses by testing the users with prompted questions within a familiar gaming environment.  The new Apps are available through the Apple App Store at a retail price of £4.99 each.

Best practices are critical ensuring a positive outcome and minimising the risk of programme failure.  The two games offer very different but complimentary skills.  ITIL creates a common understanding between your IT staff, suppliers, contractors and users within the business by creating a common language and approach to your IT services.  The framework can deliver huge cost savings for an organisation by promoting the optimum use of people, process and technology assets - while reducing overall costs.  The MSP or Managing Successful Programme element offers specific guidelines on how to organise people, ensure responsibilities and lines of communication are clear and to help plan the work in a way which achieves results as well as identifying and resolving risks during the programme term."

How the game works

The game can be played individually or connected via Bluetooth with up to four people or teams.  ILX’s ITIL® and MSP® Snakes & Ladders App includes a bank of foundation level questions which are randomly selected as a player progresses through the game.  The questions must be answered correctly to go up a ladder or to avoid sliding down a snake. Learners have the opportunity to avoid the perils of the snake by playing one of their ‘Snake Cards’ which provides the correct answer and saves the learner from being eaten by a snake.

Key features of the ILX ITIL® Foundation Snakes & Ladders application include:

  • Game based ITIL® Foundation Exam revision tool
  • Multiplayer and/or group play options
  • Choice of character selection and switchable sound effects
  • Post your high-scores to Twitter and Facebook social networking sites
  • In-app purchase of an additional question pack containing a further 40 ITIL exam questions

Key features of the ILX MSP® Foundation Snakes & Ladders application includes:

  • Game based MSP Foundation Exam revision tool to help develop understanding of the structure and contents of the MSP manual
  • Multiplayer or play against your device
  • Choice of character selection and switchable sound effects
  • Post your high-scores to Twitter and FaceBook social networking sites
  • Create a team play environment in your MSP workshops
  • In-app purchase of additional question pack containing a set of 50 questions

For most people, one of the most important aspects of learning is to feel fully prepared to pass the exam.  The games provide a fun alternative to ITIL and MSP Foundation revision and will be a valuable resource for both e-learning and classroom learners. Initial feedback has shown that there is improved knowledge retention through engaging game play. Delivering the content in a format that is easily accessible and in a bite size format will provide both individuals and organisations with even greater choice."


The launch of ILX ITIL® and ILX MSP® App are two further applications following the recent release of ILX PRINCE2® Snakes & Ladders App in March 2010.
