Stoke City Council – Select ILX for Microsoft Vista - Office 2007 Learning Portal

Stoke City Council are implementing the latest technologies through providing its schools staff with Vista and Office 2007.

Graham Hughes, the IT team leader realised that Vista and in particular Office 2007, was the largest paradigm shift in end user computing since Win 95/NT 4 and Office 97.

Stoke were faced with the challenge of training all schools staff in a vastly changed operating system and Office Applications.

Stoke looked around the market place and eventually selected the ILX Productivity Suite – Learning Portal.

Graham Hughes said:

"We selected the ILX Portal because it is platform independent, and uses browser based technologies, so it can be accessed from our network or Intranet".

He also said:

"It is a big benefit that the learning content can be accessed anywhere, and we don’t need a Learning Management System to launch it, however the best aspect of the learning is that staffs are not forced to take all of the content as they can just take the lessons they want.

This is particularly useful for staff who have Office 2007 on a home PC, who do not want to waste time recovering topics they already know".
